Dr Cameron Handford is an orthopaedic surgeon in Sydney, Australia, with a practice devoted entirely to the shoulder, elbow and upper limb. His approach is straightforward: listen carefully, diagnose precisely and restore motion with the least interference necessary.
Cameron completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating with First Class Honours in his Bachelor of Science (Medicine) alongside his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete a Master of Traumatology with Distinction at the University of Newcastle and trained through the Australian Orthopaedic Training Scheme before being admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2023.
Fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery
Dr Handford undertook subspecialty fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Sydney Shoulder Research Institute, followed by an international fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in the United Kingdom, a centre of excellence for upper limb reconstruction, with a focus on complex primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty.
Beyond his subspecialty work, he brings extensive experience managing major trauma at Royal North Shore Hospital, a Level 1 trauma centre.

Research that shapes better outcomes
Dr Handford has published papers in leading orthopaedic journals and participates in ongoing research. He also actively teaches trainees on the orthopaedic training program. His research spans joint replacement, fracture care and emerging technology in orthopaedics, presented at national scientific meetings.
